How Lambdas Are Fueling the Next Generation of Startups
San Francisco recently served as the vibrant backdrop for the Fraternity’s Founder/Investor networking night, a gathering that proved the fraternity’s professional reach is as vast as its storied history. The event drew a diverse crowd of over 50 enterprising alumni, creating a unique intersection of eras with attendees ranging from those who crossed in 1988 to the latest initiates of the Spring 2025 class.
The evening’s geographic diversity reflected the global nature of the Lambda Phi Epsilon investor network. While many drove in from the East Bay and San Jose, others demonstrated the network’s commitment by flying in from Seattle and New York. One brother even managed to join the festivities during a brief layover while traveling to Korea.
The night was filled with serendipitous moments and professional triumphs. In one of the most talked-about highlights, an intern and his manager discovered their shared fraternal bond only on the intern’s final day at the company. Conversations hummed with talk of industry successes, from the explosive growth of Poke House to the innovative vision of Kindred, a platform currently realizing the original ambition of home-sharing for over 400,000 registered users. Attendees also gained unique insights from a brother serving as a specialist in plant-based product development, further showcasing the diverse career paths within the brotherhood.
Beyond business, the night was a celebration of shared heritage, including the reinstatement of the Delta Chapter and nostalgic reflections on legendary Halloween events at Nu Chapter. The success of this landmark event is credited to the generous hosting of George Pai and a social hosted by John Chu at Modernist. This alumni-driven gathering was a powerful reminder that bonds forged in college can yield dividends for a lifetime.
